Usually, people consider Arabic Calligraphy as a piece of decoration for their own homes, or a something sacred. However, hardly anyone thinks creatively and includes Calligraphy in the options he or she might be considering for the purpose of gifting someone. The idea is not new. However, it certainly is unique and not a very familiar one. That is, not a lot of people realize that calligraphy art can be given as gifts to people who you love and care for.

What is best about Arabic Calligraphy is that it is not at all as restrictive as it might seem at first glance. It is not all about Arabic sayings, and Quranic verses. True, those are as good an option as any when going for Calligraphy as an option for home décor. It is always peaceful to have a piece of Islamic calligraphy in the drawing room or over the dinner table, especially if the piece of art contains Islamic wisdom which people take home learning from. However, that is not all where Calligraphy starts from and ends.

Arabic Calligraphy can be found in several places, and can be done on pretty much any material of your choice. That is, it is not necessary to restrict Arabic Calligraphy to wooden panels. Rather, Calligraphy can be painted on mirrors just like glass painting, or it can be carved into marble mantle pieces. Furthermore, when it comes to deciding what to engrave or paint Calligraphy on, it once again depends all upon your own creativity. You can turn a very ordinary photo frame and have words of wisdom or relationship quotes painted over it in Arabic Calligraphy style, add a few beautiful pictures to it, wrap it, and viola! Your perfect gift is ready for delivery to its recipient. The imagination is the limit.

You have the makings of a terrific artist. It’s fun and easy. Let me walk you through the basics.

STEP 1: Go to a local hobby store like Michaels, Joann or an art supply store and buy a pre-stretched and pre-primed white 18 by 24 inch canvas, which makes an ideal starting size. It should cost less than ten bucks. I know you can get a six-pack for $50. While you’re there, buy four or five, 4 ounce tubes of Basic Liquitex or a similar, inexpensive acrylic latex artist’s paint. They should cost around $5 each. Pick colors you like or ones that will match the room where the art will be hung. Don’t pick white, black, or gray but shades of brown or gold are all equally okay to use. Remember, we want this to be as colorful as possible. You won’t even need brushes of anything else. You can always buy a cheap frame later, if needed.

STEP 2: Bring everything home and place some newspaper on the table you’ll be using. Lay the canvas flat on the paper and get a paper bowl for each color. To begin with, squeeze a quarter-sized dollop of each color into a bowl. Add a few drops of water as needed to make the paint flow well. Chose which color will be the dominant or primary background color. Add another extra squirt to that bowl and get ready to have some fun.

STEP 3: You will now spread the main color across the canvas. You have 3 options, depending on how messy you want to be. You can use your fingers and hand, dipped directly into the bowl, or cover your hand in clear, Saran-type wrap first and use that method, or use a brush. I like the hand idea because it’s more fun and you get more involved. Either way, dip into the color and spread the color over the canvas quickly without any attempt to cover it completely. Just swirl around the color here and there until at least three-quarters is covered. Now, without waiting for it to dry, pick a secondary color and go over the empty spaces, while overlapping the first one. Use quick strokes, smearing the paint.

STEP 4: Now, go to the third bowl and use either one finger or a thin (half-inch) brush. Dip into the paint and make side to side movements in all directions, covering any areas you choose without trying to make an object or picture. Try diagonal lines and curved shapes as well. Don’t let the paint dry and move on to the final color. Do the same with you finger, overlapping the last color and smearing and swirling as you go.

STEP 5: Now, go back to the first color and add a bit more water until it’s drippy. Then, pick up the bowl and fold the edge to form a small pouring spout. Pour or drip the paint from a height of a few inches above the canvas onto the picture, letting the randomness form squiggles and droplets everywhere. You’ll know when you’re finished. Let it all dry before placing it upright. You now have a beautiful abstract creation you’ll probably want to sign and frame. The great thing about this way of painting is that it doesn’t require any artistic talent. And if you don’t like the way it turned out, let it dry and paint over it with common household white paint. Then start all over.

Some words of advice from someone who has done this before. The more you allow the paint to ebb and flow, the better. Be quick, random, and don’t over-think what you intend to do. It looks best when done with a free and easy hand. And that’s the last thought. Use your hands; they’ll wash up just fine and you can truly say you have a hand-made piece of artwork.

One of the most nerve wracking parts of setting up for a craft fair or art show is just getting your handmade art to the show. You’ve worked hard on your paintings and sculptures, and you need them to arrive in perfect condition. Here are some tips to help you safely transport your art to the show.

For paintings, it can be a good idea to make a frame out of lattice board. You can basically build a frame that goes around the edges of the painting to protect the corners and the canvas. Over the front of the frame, stretch clear plastic tightly across to protect the painting from dust and scratches. Then, use foam board on both sides of the painting to protect it even further. You can stack multiple paintings face to face with foam board in between and on either side of each set.

Sculptures and pottery need to be boxed up to be transported safely. You’ll want to pack them using packing material or even crumbled up newspaper. Make sure they’re packed up nice and tightly in sturdy boxes. You shouldn’t be able to move them around by shaking the box gently. If necessary, you can mark on the box which direction is up so that it doesn’t get upended during transport.

More unique pieces of artwork will take more unique packing process for safe transportation. You may need to wrap larger pieces in bubble wrap or buy specially sized boxes for oddly shaped artwork. One good option is to ask professional movers how they would move your artwork. A good moving company has all sorts of strategies to keep fragile items safe, and you can probably get some good advice from a company like this.

Finally, when you actually pack your boxes into a moving van or car, make sure they’re packed in tightly. You may even need to add some extra items into the packed vehicle so that the boxes and frames that are already packed in don’t have room to move around. This will ensure that if you take a hard turn or have to slam on your brakes, your pieces aren’t going to move around too much.

The premier form of Islamic Art is calligraphy, which is derived from the French word calligraphie and Greek word kalligraphia, meaning “beautiful handwriting.” One of the main reasons that the calligraphy is given a pedestal status in Islam is the Muslim belief that Allah (SWT) used the Arabic language to narrate his divine message to the Prophet Muhammad in the form of Holy Quran. This makes it sacred for Muslims all over the world. The prohibition of picture images spurred Calligraphy in the Muslim world to new heights. It is used to enhance the aesthetic senses in architecture, decorative arts, coins, jewelry, textiles, weapons, tools, paintings, and manuscripts. Thus Calligraphy has been embedded in each and every aspect of the Islamic society.

Islamic art in the form of Calligraphy is most commonly found in mosques. The walls and ceilings of mosques are decorated with calligraphically written ayah. These inscriptions are done in a very complex and intricate way. This form further branched out according to the spread of Islam through the Arab World, Persia, the Ottoman Empire, The Indian Subcontinent and wherever else Islam reached. Throughout these different regions, calligraphy attained a unique flavor according to the symbiosis of native culture with the Islamic culture. Calligraphic Islamic Art has evolved into a very multifaceted form of expression. The different forms of calligraphy include Diwani script, Ruqah script and Sini script. Diwani script was invented by Housam Roumini during the Ottoman Turks’ early reign. The Ruqah script is considered the easiest form of script. The Sini script originated in China and has noticeable components of the Chinese calligraphy.

Visual arts are a class of art forms that include: painting, sculpture, photography, and other disciplines that focus on the creation of artworks which are primarily visual in nature. Visual arts are said to be important in schools since they tend to develop the intelligence, as well as the overall personality of students.

Likewise, students who are greatly exposed to visual arts have been observed to exhibit refined manners and develop a much-matured outlook on life. Most educators have also noticed that students perform better in class when visual arts are incorporated in their curriculum.

Moreover, visual arts provide meaningful self-expression of all students. This is also the reason why a great number of educators have integrated visual arts in some of their subject areas in the curriculum. Visual arts educators make use of rich arrays of content to design curriculum that will enable students to be able to meet various standards at different grade levels.

In order to meet the standards, students must be able to learn vocabularies as well as some concepts that are associated with diverse types of work in the visual arts. Likewise, students are expected to exhibit their competence in various levels in visual, oral, and written form. As early as kindergarten, children are taught how to make choices that would enhance the communication of their creative ideas.

Students that are in the middle grades are expected to apply the knowledge as well as the skills in the visual arts to their ever-expanding personal world. Students at this level tend to consider visual art works within its historical concepts that creates in them a deeper appreciation of their own values, and likewise appreciate the values of others and somehow discover the connection of visual arts to the universal needs of people in terms of their values and beliefs.

Students in the higher levels are expected to create more complex and insightful works of visual arts that will reflect the maturation of their creative as well as their problem-solving skills. And although, visual arts classes make use of varied tools, techniques, and processes, students are expected to understand the relationship of different types of media, styles, forms, techniques as well as some of the processes involved in the creation of their own form of visual art.

Visual arts are also used in therapy procedures for aiding child development. Visual arts assist in educating disabled children, especially those who are blind and have hearing problems. Aside from that, visual arts also help in building communities, mural projects, and are also used to provide education for mentally ill individuals.

If you are an art collector then you are going to want to know where to find oil paintings for sale for a low cost. Now granted you can find the reprints and prints for a low cost, but the originals can end up costing you quite a bit more.

The first place that you can check would be with an art gallery that specializes in paintings. Shopping at these can be a fairly expensive option, but if you are an avid collector then cost will not be an issue for you. Shopping at these locations will also help provide you with some protection from people selling reproductions as originals and they might even be able to provide you with paperwork verifying authenticity.

The second place to check for these items would be your larger craft shows. You might not think about using this venue, but at some of these you will be able to locate local artist that are selling their paintings here for a reasonable cost. By purchasing here though you will also notice that the art will usually have the artist that made it present as well.

The third place to look for these would be at various flea markets. Flea markets might not seem like a great place to shop for art, but if you consider that some people will end up clearing out attics to provide products for these locations you might be able to find the diamond in the rough here and obtain it for a low cost.

The fourth place to look for these would be on the internet. With the internet becoming so popular today you will notice more people are selling items of all shapes and sizes on here. You can at times manage to find some excellent oils on the internet at a very reasonable price. If it is possible you will want to make sure that they are able to provide you with a certificate that they are authentic paintings and not reproductions.

The fifth place that you can find these for sale at would be estate sales. If you are a buyer of art then you will notice that many people have estate sales when they pass on hosted by their families. At times the families will not know what all the person has in the home and sell everything. Some times the items that they are selling can include the original oils that you are looking for.

As an art collector you probably realize that original paintings will cost you more than prints. However, finding the original oil paintings for sale can be a challenge at times. The five places that are mentioned above will provide you with a great start as to where to look to find these items. You will also want to realize that other places will be able to provide you with what you are looking for as well.

There is something about art galleries that has a certain fascination on people. Art galleries have been around for countless of years and they always enthrall people’s attention. You may stand there now asking yourself why art is such an awe-inspiring and astonishing subject to people around the world. A large amount of people like art because it is a formation within the artist that comes from their heart. The artist uses his heart and spirit when creating such masterpieces. Some artists are so outstanding their names are known around the world. Exhibitions provide all types of paintings and sculptors for people to see and it is a spectacular place to get inspiration.

Some people take art very seriously and travel the world to visit galleries because their passion is to buy art. Buying art can really be a gratifying thing to do and if you find the right painting by the right artist, one day you’ll have a true treasure in your hands. Contemporary art galleries usually provide the ‘up-to-date’ art, such as abstract art. Especially in these days, people long for such works of art. Traditional art galleries, however, provide the old style such as landscapes or impressionism paintings. To put it all in a nutshell it can be said that creative works of art will be alive within the world and still there are many artists yet to be born. Now with all this said, next time you walk out on the city streets, stop by an art exhibition and be bewildered by such exquisiteness regular people can make. You will be astounded by the stimulation you will experience by every painting you see.

Portrait artists specialize in one part of the body. Millions of different faces offer endless painting opportunities. There are many expressions which the human face will make. Portrait artists will never run out of subject material. You as the artist will never get bored as there are many interesting challenges in drawing and painting the human head with its face. There are many hundreds of clicks which a photographer will make before he settles on one photo which captures that special “look” needed for the magazine print. The model in front of the camera had to also pose her face in many directions in order to help the photographer finalize the “look”.

It has been my experience with many worn out erasers how one line can alter a facial appearance. That one line can change the appearance of the eye, ear, nose, and mouth which in turn changes the appearance of the face. One line can add a smile or a frown to a face and that line can also add age or worry to a face. Every line you sketch on your canvas will undo or redo a facial appearance. There are faces expressing happiness, sadness, loneliness, depression, doubt, fear, hate, laughter and much more.

Portrait artists will make many changes to get the expression they want, just as the photographer and model had to be at one in a second of time with the click of a lens to capture that special or unique “look”. There are basic lessons of measurements to learn and memorize for drawing eyes, eyebrows, nose, lips, and ears as everything in our body has set dimensions. As the head tilts the measurements will still remain the same, but the angles cause confusion and you will keep the eraser busy. Do not expect each drawing and portrait to be a masterpiece. Just as the photographer gets bad shots; you too will have a bad portrait. Do not get upset, set it aside, and return another day. You will be amazed how it can be corrected.

If you are very interested in art and know a lot of artists who you think are very talented, try opening an art exhibition. If you have extra space that you can transform for a small cost, you can set up a few different works of a few different artists and charge by person to enter the gallery for however long they want to stay. If you can, rent out a place and make a small business out of it. You can even get together with the artists and help them sell their work. If you do this you will have to first work the profit out and determine who gets what. To make the art stand out, picture frame lighting, and an art light, and a led picture light can help to illuminate the art and give it that glow it needs.

When you decide to start an art exhibition, you will want to pick a certain type of art that you want to show or sell. You do not want a bunch of varieties of art because the guests and potential customers will get overwhelmed. If you want to attract a certain crowd or make it easier on yourself to advertise the work you have gathered together, it will be easier to be specific with the art you are showing instead of just advertising an art show in general.

It does not matter if you get a warehouse or a really cute room that is well-lit. You can always transform a space to make it comfortable. Since it is an art show, it is okay for the room or building to have some character because it will give it a modern and artsy feel. You can dress the walls up by hanging up white curtains and setting up funky tables in front of it. If it is a modern art show, you can paint the curtains and if it is more classical and elegant, white cloth that is lit from the other side so that people cannot see the actual lights can be very pretty.

Working with someone else on this big project could be a good idea because you will probably not make an enormous profit on it and it can be an expensive thing to get together. It can also be a lot of work. You need money in the first place because it will take some to get the art together and get it set up. If you are looking at this as a fun activity to do and you have the money to spare than go for it. If you are looking to get a lot of money out of it, it is probably not the best option.
